Avbolt® Steel Blind Oversize Mechanical (BOM) Fastener

Lockbolt fasteners are generally two piece fastener systems consisting of a lockbolt pin and specific collar, with the exception of the Avbolt® blind oversize mechanical fastener. The lockbolt pin is placed through the work material and the collar is placed and set over the lockbolt pin. The collar is swaged to the lockbolt pin using the appropriate tool the pin is broken off flush to the collar. Lockbolt fasteners offer extremely high clamp-up, shear and tensile strengths and are typically utilized in heavy duty applications such as automotive, construction, container, railway and mining.

High strength, tamper resistant, blind structural fastener which can be used in placement conditions where a two-piece structural fastener would normally be used. BOM fasteners install from one side of the work piece which is ideal for arenas with restricted access. Set ‘bulb’ and ‘collar’ design ensure positive locking and consistent clamp loads. Zinc plated steel sleeve/collar with black oxide steel pin fastener is available in diameters of 3/16”, 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8” and 5/8” with grip ranges from .093” to .781” dependent upon diameter size. Recommended Placing Tools: Diameter sizes 3/16”, 1/4” and 5/16” use # 722 Series Hydro-Pneumatic Tool with applicable nose equipment. Diameter sizes 3/8” and 5/8” use # 734 Series Hydra-Pac Power Unit with applicable installation head and nose equipment.
